As if running a 5k wasn't enough for the week, we decided to tackle house mountain that weekend. I believe it's pretty obvious from our blog that we are an active, on the go couple. We love being outside, taking in the beauty and majesty of God's creation, and getting a solid workout in all at once.
We hit the trail early, while it was nice and cold. I knew I had layered too much when I was already warm before we even hit the steep climbs. That resulted in me looking like a packed down mule, all the way to the top of the mountain. Oh but the workout I had with all that extra weight, plus our little Tuck in my belly. He's the best motivation ever. My legs screamed for the mile-high hike, but it was so worth every climbing step to see the view and feel the breeze at the top of the mountain.
We brought a picnic lunch, and as you can imagine, I was ravenous. That was the best orange, shredded turkey sandwich, and pickle I had ever had. Topped off with a kashi dark mocha almond bar...oh man, that was so good!!
It took us around 45 minutes to hike to the top, and about 30 minutes to hike back down. By far, the best hiking trip ever. It's such a wonderful way to spend quality time with your spouse. I love him so much, and can't wait to go hiking again!
